What is Overeaters Anonymous?

Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively.

Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive overeating and to carry this message of recovery to those who still suffer. There are no dues or fees for members; we are self-supporting through our own contributions, neither soliciting nor accepting outside donations.

More Than Weight

OA is not just about weight loss, gain or maintenance; or obesity or diets. It addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. It is not a religious organization and does not promote any particular diet.

Unity with Diversity

OA welcomes everyone. We respect one another's anonymity, and we understand that our individual paths to recovery may look different. Our shared commitment to overcoming compulsive eating brings us together in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

The Path to Recovery

Recovery is a journey, not a destination. Through working the Twelve Steps, attending meetings, and offering service, we find a new way to live—free from the obsession with food. You don't have to walk this path alone.
